Adding the domain to google apps admin portal


Navigate to admin.google.com


Sign in with your user.name@848.im email account


Select reseller tools


Go to the customers portal and click go to admin console (Figure1)

Towards the bottom of the screen select more controls (Figure2)



Select Domains

Click add a domain or domain alias and select which is required (figure4)



  • If you add a Domain Alias this will auto add any emails you already have for the master domain as an alias

  • If you add another Domain you can then decide what email alias you want

You will then be given the txt record (Figure6) that will need to be added the hosting site - for example the DNS is looked after by GoDaddy for Sorbus - you will need to also obtain the log in details to log into the Domain Host to make the changes

Verify this change has taken place on the google portal by clicking verify at the bottom of the page (Figure7)

Once this has been done you will also need to complete the same for the MX records and verify it in the same method as above.


The addition of the domain has now been completed


Configuring Gmail to send as the new domain


Once this has been done you should now be able to send as a different alias address by doing the below in gmail


1.Sign in to your Google Apps email.


2.Click the cog in the upper-right and select Settings along the top of any page, and select the Accounts tab.


3.Under Send mail as, click Add another email address.


4.In the Email address field, enter your name and alternate email address.


Messages you send will appear to be from the domain alias or email alias. The return-path of the message will indicate your primary mail addresses, but only recipients who look at the original message header will notice.


Once you're set up: sending mail


To use one of your alternate sender addresses, click the From link when you compose a new message. If you're replying to or forwarding a message, click the field where your recipients are listed, then click From. After clicking From, you'll see a drop-down menu next to your address, where you can select the email address you'd like to send from.
